Ok, newsjacking doesn't have the most positive connotation, but sometimes it can be good. Especially when it involves a locally-owned business or two, right? When a national company issued a hummus recall, our social streams were flooded with laments from folks wailing about the lack of access to pureed chickpeas. That's when we realized we've got the makings of a pro-small-business newsjacking here.We called our client Chef Julia Simon of Nourish, knowing that she could educate folks about the importance of shopping local and the ease of making your own hummus at home. But could she do it quickly, as in that night, or the next day? Timing and responsiveness is key.Of course! Take a look at Chef Julia dropping the knowledge on Bounce TV and Time Warner Cable News.
