Rachel Sutherland has been a working journalist for more than 14 years, most recently as Style Editor at the Charlotte Observer, the largest daily newspaper in the Carolinas. She left the paper in November 2009 to start Rachel Sutherland Communications, a boutique public relations firm.
Her writing and styling work has appeared in newspapers across the country, as well as Charlotte Magazine, SouthPark Magazine and UCity Magazine. She is also a frequent guest on the syndicated radio programs The Matt & Ramona Show and The Satisfied Life.
She was named one of the five most stylish people in Charlotte by Charlotte Style Magazine. She is a guest blogger for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and SouthPark Magazine, and has been featured on WCNC’s Charlotte Today program.
The Michigan native is a graduate of Wayne State University, and lives in the Charlotte area with her husband and two children.
She has served on the board of directors for Tri It For Life, a non-profit training group for first time female athletes, and in 2013 will be the Chair of the board of directors for the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (RAIN).
A self-professed shoe fiend, she also dabbles in handbag coveting. She is a frustrated crafter and adores all things vintage, especially textiles and jewelry.
